Astronomy Shares 01.01.2014
It's a new year, everyone's wishing each other a happy new year, and everything's great. Don't expect me to celebrate. I don't care about anything except the holidays. I've already quit smoking, and I'm a bit irritable. I thought I'd share the pictures you couldn't share due to a problem with your image library on the first day, and one more I've captured so far.
Normally, I was going to share the photos below before Christmas, but that didn't happen. The images below are the final images taken by the Cassini spacecraft of Saturn and its moons. They say they sent them to humanity as a New Year's gift.
The picture below is a sequence of images of the sun taken with different wavelengths of light.
The image below (you could also call it an animation) is a 3D rendering of IC 1369, also known as the Elephant's Trunk nebula. I really liked it and couldn't resist sharing it.
