Spectacular Cosmic Cygnus Wall Captured by Amateur Astronomers
Astrophotographer Bill Snyder captured this shot of the North America Nebula, a star-forming region most active in space. Snyder created this image with an 18-hour exposure at the Heavenly Mirror Observatory in the Nevada Mountains, California. He used an Apogee U16 camera, a 17″ Planewave telescope, and Astrodon filters Ha5nm, OIII3nm, and SII5nm.
The North America Nebula, also known as NGC 7000, is 1,800 light-years away and 100 light-years across.
