Saturn's Shadow
After months of waiting, we now have Cassini's image.
This image was taken by the Cassini spacecraft on July 19th, when it was 1.2 million km away from Saturn's rings, as seen naturally by the eye.
The image covers an area of 651,591 km. All of Saturn's rings, including the E ring, are included. Saturn, with the Sun behind it, is also included, along with Mars, Venus, the Moon, and Earth.
When you look at this picture, you also see this: If you could get this close to Saturn, this is exactly what you would see live with your own eyes.
A closer look at the image reveals many of Saturn's moons. For example, the zoomed-in image of Enceladus is visible on the left.
