Total Lunar Eclipse in Tajikistan
Imagine sitting outside on a beautiful night, gazing up at the sky. A full moon fills the sky with its dazzling light. What a sight it would be if you suddenly saw the full moon disappear.
The answer to this question is a video taken during a total lunar eclipse in Tajikistan in 2011. During a lunar eclipse, the Earth comes between the Sun and the Moon, causing the Moon to darken significantly, or redden as we see it. The Moon doesn't go completely dark because light reflected from the Earth's atmosphere still falls on it.
When the video starts, you'll think it's a video taken on a sunny day, but what you'll mistake for the Moon is the Moon itself. As the eclipse begins, the stars and the Milky Way galaxy will appear in the sky. Luckily, the next total lunar eclipse is this Wednesday. I don't know about you, but I'm planning to take a few photos and a video with my telescope.
After the photos I took during the Supermoons in July and August, I can't sit still anymore.
