Asteroids Can Be Used for Colonization or Transfer Operations
Russian scientists say asteroids are more likely to be colonized for space exploration and research than for space mining. They could become spaceports with closed ecosystems.
Reaching asteroids is easy because they can get so close to Earth. It might even be easier than reaching the Moon. There are 10,000 asteroids orbiting close to Earth, and there are nearly 2 million others in the asteroid belt (located between Jupiter and Mars). Their combined volume and surface area are three times greater than Earth's. Russian scientists, however, believe that using them as spaceports would be more beneficial than using them for space mining.
There are also scientists who believe that the rotation of asteroids could create gravity, which could allow for the formation of small life forms with closed ecosystems.
NASA has plans for a manned mission to an asteroid in 2021. This mission will be carried out with a spacecraft equipped with a powerful lifting arm, production of which has begun. The design is called the "Space Launch System," and its purpose will be to capture a suitable asteroid and place it in lunar orbit. We'll discuss this topic further. in my article I shared.
